This easy to make, spicy hot chocolate mix allows you to make in bulk and use as needed whenever you're looking for a warm pick-me-up during the colder months of the year. It's a great option for holiday gifting, too.
Ingredients
-
1 ⅓ cup sugar
-
⅔ cup cocoa powder
-
1 Tablespoon of Piment d’Ville
-
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
-
Dash of ground black pepper
Directions
To make hot chocolate mix, dump all ingredients into a medium bowl. Mix well to ensure that all ingredients have been fully incorporated and distributed. Pour mix into a jar and seal tightly.
Recipe Note
For each mug of hot chocolate, you’ll need 1-2 Tablespoons of the hot chocolate mix along with the liquid of your choice. This could be milk, non-dairy milk, or a milk/water ratio of your choice, depending on how rich you like it. I like to fill up my mug with milk and then pour that into a small pot to make sure I have the right amount as all mugs are different sizes!
Warm your liquid on the stove but don’t boil it. Remove from heat. Add 1 heaping tablespoon of the hot chocolate mix to your mug and about ⅓ of your liquid. Mix together well. Add the rest of the liquid and mix again. Add a dash of Piment d’Ville on top to garnish.
